Why is it that I always have these weird feelings of ... I guess longing? I don't know if you know what I'm talking about. It's like whenever I watch movies like Grease or Dirty Dancing or West Side Story or Pretty in Pink or any movie that shows vintage summer/teen love or the way high school used to be with Jocks and cheerleaders. I know it has something to do with the way they dressed and other aspects of life "back in the day" , but there's something else there. An unknown magic seems to just radiate from these movies and it gives me this weird fluttery feeling in my stomach. I feel like I'm missing out or something. I feel like the people in the movies are just living such incredible lives and I'm just letting mine pass me by. Does anybody know what I mean? What movies/books make you feel this weird nostalgicy feeling?
I'm going to make your life (if you haven't seen it yet) and recommend "Amelie". I know exactly what feeling you mean and this movie always gives me that sense of magic. Makes me happy/sad(with longing) every time I watch it! Have you seen it?
ReplyDeleteohmygod yes i know exactly what you're talking about! you described it really well. i don't like this feeling at all. nearly any romantic movie or book can make it to me. now i avoid watching such movies or reading such books... instead, i'm learning to enjoy my own life as much as possible. i've realized that my life is better than theirs. my life is REAL.

ReplyDeleteLove is NOTHING like the movies. It's better and so strange and different. I'm so happily married (for three years so far) and I was watching the notebook.. Oh I cried the whole movie. I couldn't help but wish my relationship could be so romantic. But then I realized movies aren't real and I have my own "romantic" story. The thought of my husband still gives me butterflies!!
